Marketta Taylor Eames, cherished daughter of Wendell and Juliet Eames, tragically passed away on July 2, 2024. Born October 1, 2015, as the youngest of six, she wiggled her way into the hearts of her siblings: Beckett (20), Garrett (17), Griffin (14), Jocelyn (12), and Elena (10). She brought animation and fulfillment to the whole family, and thrived off their love as well.
Marketta was a vibrant ray of sunshine who brought joy, light, love, and kindness to all. She had a unique way of captivating hearts of those around her that knew no bounds of either age, background, or culture. She had a variety of talents, many beyond her young age. Very recently she had written, in her perfect handwriting, a flurry of songs and poems that speak to us beyond her passing. She loved to sing, produce talent shows, dance and snuggle. She enjoyed soccer, tennis, camping, hiking, swimming and kayaking. She had the fortune of traveling to more countries than her eight short years of life. Most recently, she was skipping around a fire to indigenous music in the Sahara desert much to the delight of our Moroccan hosts. We lived our time on earth with her to the fullest and have every confidence she’s taking on the next phase of life with the same vibrancy and energy as she did this one.
Marketta would have started 3rd grade at Barnette Magnet Elementary this fall. She was a bright student and natural leader, kind and inclusive to all. She recently came home beaming at having spent her whole recess writing notes on the doors of as many teachers as possible, for teacher appreciation day.
Marketta left us far sooner than we could have imagined. We ask for your prayers, that we might have the strength of Jesus Christ to help us through this time. We know that she is deeply loved by many and will be profoundly missed. We take great comfort that Marketta is enjoying the full audience of our loved ones in heaven. We yearn for the day we will see her again.
Marketta’s Funeral will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1500 Cowles St, on July 27, 2024 at 11 am. We invite all who knew and loved Marketta or the family to join us. Please wear light and bright colors, hairstyles, or tastes reflective of our little Marketta, as we honor her in her final concert on this earth. The services will be followed by a chance for both children and adults to say their goodbyes by decorating her casket with artwork and messages while the family receives individual respects.
We feel your love. We are lifted by your prayers. We are so very grateful. If you wish to do more, you are welcome to donate to Markettas-Perpetual-Light-Fund (Venmo). While we need time to prayerfully consider the exact use of these sacred funds, their purpose will be to spread love, joy and light by helping others in need, just as Marketta would have done. The contributions of her heart were small, yet powerful. Yours can be as well.
She made us laugh. She helped us smile. She gave us joy. We miss her greatly.
